Scottish businesses 'want more advice on climate change'

A large majority of businesses in Scotland have stated they would like more government advice on climate change issues.

In the survey, which was undertaken at last week's Prince of Wales' Business Summit on Climate Change, 87 per cent of firms said the country's politicians are not doing enough to educate them on the topic.

Despite concerns over the amount of information open to firms, 65 per cent said they felt they are ready to meet the government's target of reducing carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.

Samantha Barber, the chief executive officer of the event's organiser Scottish Business Community, said she felt there was still much to be done to create a low-carbon economy in Scotland.

"Companies need practical solutions that have been successfully delivered in other organisations and can be incorporated into their own," she added.

According to the Scotsman, Prince Charles spoke to businesses that attended the event via a satellite link and urged them to reduce their energy consumption.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18584398-ADNFCR
